During some regular garden maintenance this week my husband inadvertently let a stone fly up while using the whipper snipper and it shattered the glass panel next to our glass sliding door.
This was quite late on a Friday afternoon so to avoid paying extra for calling a glass repair company after hours we decided to wait until the morning. For safety and in case the totally shattered window decide to fall out we pulled the curtains across it to try to avoid the shattered glass coming into the house.
In the morning we rang around 4 companies to get quotes on what the window would cost to repair. The quotes ranged from $480 to over $700 for the same glass and the same service (we went with the $480!!)
The repair guys arrived within about 2 hours of us comfirming that we wanted them for the job, and quickly went about removing the panel.
As they got to the stage that the fame could be removed the shattered glass fell out of the window and there were tiny shards of glass everywhere. This was dealt with by a shovel, broom and finished off with a vacuum cleaner.
The glass repair men then took the frame away and returned about 45 minutes later with a new pane of glass installed in the frame. They then repositioned the frame back in place and put the glass door back in and all was complete and new again.
